Born in the city of Milwaukee, WI and bread in the volunteer state of Memphis, TN, Tanisha Brimley has been in the hair industry for twelve (12) years. She continues to shake things up in the industry! Her perpetuity in the study of hair is ensured by teamwork, good customer service, creativity, and innovative styles.

 

     Brimley was introduced to the world of traditional dreadlocks in 2007 and trained to care for locs by Memphis's own Nappy by Nature Hair Co. Brimley then decided to enhance and fine tune her skills from an apprentice to Tennessee Licensed Natural Hair Stylist, making her an alumnus of Pyramid Beauty & Barber School, 2011. Eager to further her education Brimley then gained another accolade, becoming a Tennessee Licensed Cosmetologist and alumni of Plaza Beauty School in 2015. She then, began to take professional hair coloring, variations of hair texture, nails, esthetics, and barbering to the next level.

     In 2017, Brimley learned an additional category of dreadlocking natural and chemically procced hair, a distinguished technique called Sisterlock TM.  Shortly after, Brimley opened her very own salon suite Good Vybes Hair Salon in the heart of Whitehaven. Although she was nervous about the responsibilities of opening her own salon, she came to the conclusion that she would have to step out on faith.

 

Brimley aspires to create a teaching environment in her salon.  She desires to pour into new and established stylists in an effort to lower the beauty industries high turnover rate.  She recognizes that many become frustrated with learning how to navigate the industry post-graduation. In 2018, Brimley graduated from The Institution School of Cosmetology and Barbering becoming a Tennessee Licensed Natural Hair Instructor in an effort to advance her training and management skill to move closer to her future goals.​

     In 2020 during Covid-19 lockdowns, Brimley shifted her focus from operating the salon to upgrading her brand Good Vybes Hair Studio into a Limited Liability Company. In 2022, Brimley upgraded from a 300 sq. foot salon to a 1500 sq. foot salon on Elvis Presley Blvd in the same building where she began as a fully licensed stylist where under the mentorship of Pearl Walker, Brimley thrived.

   

Over the years, Brimley's artistry has opened many doors.
